1. How do I get started with Invisalign?
Invisalign is done by an orthodontist or general dentist who has had the training and experience to provide these popular clear braces. Just call your dentist and ask if they do them or ask them for a referral.
2. Does the procedure work on overbites?
Overbites are situations where the bite is closed down so far that 50 to 100+% of the lower teeth are not visible when the person has closed his/her bite and viewed from the front. So the answer to this question is generally NO, overbites are vertical deficiencies, and as such, are very difficult, if not impossible, to manage with Invisalign. There are much better ways to handle overbites than with this system.
3. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?
Some situations that would preclude use of this system is numerous missing teeth, rare cases of defective enamel where bonding of some crucial attachments is not possible,Severe gum disease where the teeth are very loose from loss of bone or are very inflamed and swollen from unhealthy gums. Also if there are many teeth that are part of a fixed bridge or have been replaced with implants are not eligible for this system.
4. Are bridges a factor in Invisalign treatment?
Yes, It depends on where the bridges are in relation to the teeth need to be moved. Also it depends on how much and where the teeth need to be moved to in order to achieve the goal.
5. Are crowns a factor in Invisalign treatment?
They will need special bonding techniques, but in general, they don' t pose a significant problem.
6. Can Invisalign close gaps?
Yes, in many cases this system lends itself very well to closing gaps, provided that closing one gap does not create another unacceptable gap somewhere else, or leave the bite unstable as a result.
