1. Will TMJ affect Invisalign treatment?
Typically patients with TMJ issue are not affected by Invisalign treatment. In fact, through Invisalign we can improve the bite and the way the teeth come together which can have a net result of improving TMJ problems.
2. Since having my braces removed, my teeth have shifted. Can Invisalign correct this?
Yes, Invisalign is a very esthetic and non-invasive way to correct teeth that have shifted after braces.
3. How often do I need to visit my dentist during the Invisalign treatment?
We see our Invisalign patients every six weeks to make sure the teeth are moving as anticipated and to deliver the next set of aligners.
4. How does Invisalign straighten my teeth?
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic trays or aligners to straighten teeth. Each aligner is slightly different and the series of aligners move the teeth into an ideal position.
5. Can I drink alcohol with Invisalign?
You can drink any clear beverage while wearing your aligners. I recommend using a straw with any colored beverage or taking your aligners out before drinking. The risk is discoloration of the aligners which can happen with colored beverages.
6. What about refinements?
Occasionally when we get to the end of treatment there may be modifications that we want to make. This can be done using what Invisalign calls a refinement. This process is covered by the cost of Invisalign and the goal is to make sure you are happy with your teeth.
