An Interview With Dr. Savani, A Qualified Dentist In Glendora

Is this a new way to straighten teeth?

Invisalign has been around for many years. There have been many cases completed with great success with Invisalign.

Who should consider using Invisalign?

Anyone who wants to straighten their teeth should arrange for a consult with an Invisalign-certified dentist. After the dentist has looked at the inidividual case, the best treatment options can be discussed.

How often will I have to wear my aligners?

Your goal is to wear the aligners about 20-22 hours a day. Each one will be worn for approximately 2 weeks. I see my patients in the office once every 6 weeks for check ups.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces to straighten teeth. It works with a series of rigid, plastic trays that are worn for about 2 weeks each until the final result is achieved. Treatment time can vary depending on the severity of the case just like with traditional braces, but most of the cases I do range anywhere from 6 months to 1.5 years. While in treatment, the patient wears each tray for about 22 hours a day, removing them only for meals and their dental hygiene. Each tray will move the teeth slightly the same way that every time braces are tightened, the teeth move slightly. It s a great alternative for patients who want a cosmetic option for orthodontics because the trays are clear and much less noticeable than metal braces.

What are Invisalign aligners made of?

The aligners (or trays) are constructed of implantable-grade polyurethane. It looks and feels like a rigid plsatic tray. Another nice benefit to the aligners are that they will also serve as a nightguard for patients, protecting the biting surfaces of their teeth if they clench or grind their teeth. Trays are cut just short of the gums so that there will not be any gum irritation which is a common complaint with traditional braces.

What do "aligners" look like?

Aligners look like a rigid bleaching tray. They are clear and cover the entire surface of the teeth.
