1. Can I go to any orthodontist or dentist to be treated with Invisalign?
You may go to any orthodontist or general dentist who has received training in the delivery of the Invisalign technology. The manufacturer requires any dentist to be properly certified and sufficiently experienced to use and represent their product.
2. Do doctors need special training in order to use Invisalign?
Yes. Training consists of a series of Continuing Education courses.
3. Are there restrictions on what I can eat during the process of treatment?
The unique beauty and genius of the Invisalign product is that you can eat whatever you want, simply because you remove the orthodontic appliances (aligners) while eating. You take them out to eat and to clean your teeth, and then you put them back in. You must not drink anything other than water with the aligner in your mouth, as any liquid you take into your mouth with the aligners in place will flow underneath the aligners, bathing the teeth. Any liquid other than water will therefore lead to decay....including milk or alcoholic beverages.
4. Will smoking stain the aligners?
Definitely! ...Not to mention the smoke would concentrate on, around, under the aligners and stain your teeth too. You should not smoke with your aligners in place.
5. Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?
Absolutely not! You will end up with a mess as you can well imagine. It would be hard to get all that gummy mess off your aligners and that would defeat the advantage of their being nearly invisible.
6. What' s the best way to clean my aligners?
The same way you clean your teeth, with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
