1. Is Invisalign FDA approved?
Yes, the Invisalign System has FDA clearance, meeting all medical device specifications.
2. What are aligners made of?
The virtually invisible aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan, look similar to tooth-whitening trays. Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you and only you have to move your teeth in the sequence determined by your doctor.
3. How often will I have to wear my aligners?
Trays should be worn 22 out of 24 hours a day. You take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss. You sleep in them everynight. Every two weeks you change trays.
4. Is this a new way to straighten teeth?
The company was founded in 1997 so it is not a new way to straighten teeth.
5. Who should use Invisalign?
Not everyone is a candidate for invisalign. If you are interested in straightening your teeth come into the office and consult with me to see if you are a candidate. Minor tooth movement to relieve crowding and spacing work the best.
