1. Do Invisalign braces cost more than regular braces?
It varies depending on the problem you have.
2. These Invisalign invisible braces (aligners) seem to be plastic; why should they cost more?
It is not the cost of the material, it is the process. After the impression is delivered to the Invisalign laboratory, they make a Computerized Tomography (CT) scan and make a virtual recreation of the teeth. The doctor then views where the treatment is to be directed, and then the laboratory makes a mold of each step and each tray is made from that mold. That creates a lot of expense that you don’t see.
3. Can Invisalign treat all of the problems that braces can?
No, not at all. But some problems can be treated nicely, maybe even better.
4. Do I have to wear the aligners all the time?
The more they are worn, the better the treatment response.
5. What happens if I lose an aligner?
You must get in to your orthodontist soon to get the next tray, or the doctor will get you back to the previous tray. A duplicate can be ordered at some expense but is rarely necessary.
6. Will I need further treatment in the future?
Post treatment movement of teeth can occur any time if retention protocol is not followed. This is true if you go through braces, Invisalign, or have never had any treatment at all!
